Definition

Street-side food vendor serving faster-than-fast food at pocket friendly prices! Its usually a hand pulled cart with a stove/cooking gas, though you can see motorized versions too. Customers hover around the cart, stand and eat. The food is served on plates that are usually topped with a polythene sheet. Their quick-clean method of use-throw-reuse. Service is not first come first serve, the plate closest to the vendor gets served first :) Billing system is easy, you say what you ate, how much and pay for it! Taste of food is directly proportional to the crowd around the cart!

Usage

Vadivel: Dai machaan lets go to a nice place for dinner da?
Vivek: Month end paa...very tight. Kaiyendhi bhavan wonly for me today!

You may have an M.D from Johns Hopkins and, what the heck, you may be the actual Dr. Robert Jarvik who invented the artificial heart, but unless the local community declares you to be a "Kai Raasi" doctor, you will be lucky to prescribe Amrutanjan for headaches...

...Kai Raasi translates loosely into "Lucky Hands", meaning the doctor's touch is simply sufficient to heal thine ailments, and he/she may gain such an honorific, through some sort of old-world equivalent of crowd-voting and leader-boards..Think of it as something like Samosapedia's LPW, but spread word-of-mouth....

Usage

Maid Muniamma: Endha doctor paakareenga Amma? (Which doctor are you seeing, Amma?)
Mistress of the House: Girija Doctor
Maid Muniamma: Ushoo, Prema Doctor'a paarunga amma, Kai Raasi doctor...(Ushoo, See Dr. Prema amma, She has lucky hands)

1. Grope, hath lagao, put kai. sexually fondle a girl.

'Groping in darkness' is an expression of human ignorance;
'Groping in daylight' is an expression of human knowledge, of anatomy of course; but 'Groping with half-closed eyes in secure privacy' is bliss!. Doesn't bliss lie in the region between ignorance and knowledge?

2. Literal meaning is 'let down'. This shade of meaning is more commonly expressed as kai kodu(Kan & Tam), give hath, hath dena, kai yeththu(Kan), meaning 'lift your hands up'

Usage

Sofa Sadhu: " Modalu 'kai bidodu' madve aagu andrey 'kai bittu bidodu'! Idey Eee kaalad hudugru maadodu!"
(First they grope the girl, if she proposes marriage they lift their hands up!, this is what boys of this age do!)
