Definition 1 of 1
While this is not an Indian word, it belongs to the category of words/phrases that are overly erudite in other parts of the world but somehow used very nonchalantly in common speech in India. We have no beggars in India, only mendicants! Also used as a common curse like bandicoot when someone wants to deride someone else in a stern but playful way.
Mother: What is wrong with you Sita? Why did you put all the coconut oil into the fish fry? Bleddy mendicant!
