Semmai South Indian... so much so (is there an Indianism in that phrase somewhere??), that despite convincing myself that my English is as international as any stiff-upper-lipper's or a drawling yank's... I frequently collapse (yep, 'lapse' barely covers it) "lokkel" Indian lingo. Ah well, yenna pannarudhu, so be it!

Getting

\Getteeeng.\
3 0
Exclamation.
0

Definition

A fairly common word with an abstract usage. Why? Because when pronounced as "getteeeeng" and used in the correct form, it implies exactly the opposite, i.e. NOT getting!

Usage

"Wow, machan, so he got all dressed up for the chick and he scored with her, eh?"
"Hahaha, that mokkai fellow? Getteeeeng wunly. She dissed him and went off."
(Also notice the insertion of other Indianisms, like went off. Doesn't mean she, well, came instead of went, she simply left.)

Definition

This is, as per most Tamilians who refuse to listen to any corrections or other options of this, the correct way to express inability to do something. If you look at it with slightly warped logic, it makes sense. "Able to be" is the combined phrase, cannot be separated. Thus, if you are incapable of something, it is, quite logically, "cannot able to be"!

Usage

I cannot able to be coming early...
I cannot able to understand...
I cannot able to lizzun to you... (listen to you - in this case, it's perhaps "I am not able to hear you", but hear, listen, what hell... they're the same to us Tamilians!)

Assumed big daddy. That is to say, someone who usually is NOT the big daddy, but behaves like one. Thus, to actually BE a Periya Peter (usually pronounced Periya Peter-rruuuu) is a grand thing, but one looks down on mere mortals pretending to be one.

Usage

Ayye, nee Periya Peter-rruuu.
