Archaic term.

Saada version of internet service provided by the Government of India in the dark ages.

In the late 90s, the Indian Government's Communication Services Wing, VSNL were the only service providers of the internet. The service came in two flavors - the shell account and the TCP/IP account - both accessible by dial-up, another archaic way of connecting to the internet.

While the TCP/IP service looked more like your internet of today, albeit slow, the shell account was a basic (cheaper) service, that allowed you to 'browse' the internet using only text-driven links. Dialing a phone number provided by your ISP would bring you to a page that contained only text. Navigation was possible only through the use of the arrow keys on your keyboard. Today, one expects a graphical interface straightly, but this was an age of innocence - of gentle places and simple things.

No images or video could be seen unless you clicked specifically on the corresponding image link.

A page containing images might look like this:

Krista Allen Sexy Gallery

(01.jpg) (02.jpg) (03.jpg) (04.jpg) (05.jpe) (06.gif)

(07.jpg) (08.gif) (09.jpg) (10.jpg) (11.gif) (12.gif)

.... and so on.

You would click one of the links above and only then could the image be downloaded on your computer. Hours would be spent waiting before a single 120kb picture of your favourite porn star was available for your personal use. More likely than not, the picture would disappoint you. You would then click the next link and wait further, prolonging gratification. This was a time when choices were fewer, you had to work harder, longer, sweat it out.

Even though it was a few thousand years BC, pornography was the most popular application among internet users. As expected, technology managed to stay abreast of humankind's base instincts and programming geniuses managed to resolve all remaining html conflicts. Today, you have internet services that are far quicker and supremely efficient in handling our carnal instincts.

But in it's heyday, the shell account did the deed and we only have VSNL to thank for it. Cheap and best!

Go away.

Slight, but welcome iteration of Po da! or Poda dai, the use of the English "Go" instead of the Malayalam/ Tamil "Po" lending the phrase some chutzpah. Usually aimed at peter-types.

Usage

"Bleddy English fellow! Go da!"

Euphemism for a troublesome, often painful assignment to a treacherous location.

A blacklisted location - known for all sorts of nefarious activities, all-round lawlessness, bordering on barbarism.

The phrase is used by individuals in government service. As a public sector employee, your life is completely in the hands of the bureaucracy. Throughout your career, you are variously "posted" to several locations as part of your job. Here, you are expected to conform to the moral and ethical standard set by your peers.

If you choose to indulge in an activity that is frowned upon by peers, it is likely that vindictive supervisors could take it upon themselves to transfer you to a new location. A ruthless supervisor will most certainly transfer you to a far-off place, with no electricity, water, mobile network, local telephone connection, infested by goondas for an inordinately long period.

Far away from civilization, family and most material comforts. such assignments are dreaded by government servants and act as a deterrent, so that they stay out of trouble.

Usage

"That Inspector Gaitonde... thinks too much of himself. I will send him to Bindaaswadi!"

"Arre, lets send him to Rascalpuram! Better punishment posting. I was there last year only, no? Got my gaand kicked."
