Definition

A bar where cheap alcohol is served, extremely popular among middle-aged men, with almost no female patrons. As opposed to a not-so-shady bar (like a disc or a pub), which plays contemporary music, has a dance floor, and popular among youngsters, shady bars are dimly lit, with musty air-conditioners and a generally creepy atmosphere.

While both kinds of bars are usually patronized by their own special kind of crowd, shady bars are now more popular among youngsters because of this very creepy quality. Cool youths nowadays prefer to go to shady bars, if they want to experience an edgier lifestyle, pick fights with real gangsters and street toughs.

Usage

"Feel like a shady bar tonight, macha! Sunlight or Gokul?"
