It's a Sanskrit word which is distinct from physical laziness. It describes the tendency of human mind to avoid or postpone thinking about an issue solely due to the laziness of mind.
It is not blocking of thoughts out of fears or responsibilities associated with thought. It is not mind's incapability to handle complexities of thought.
It is just that you don't want to think about it. You can but you won't.
It is clearly observable in some people who avoid or put off mathematical work, listening to a favorite discourse, or even making a mental grocery list.
I have not heard a similar single word expression in any other language.
