Definition

the literal meaning of ommala is 'Your mother'. Like most Asian language, the verb generally appears after this exclamation (Sometimes before). In this case, it has been omitted for the sake of decency. The silent word after this would be okka or watha (Meaning Fuck)

Usage

Famous Loyola College Couplet:

Othang Ommale, Kari kolambu Nallale

Translation: Fuck your mother, your chicken broth is terrible!

Aisu: Ei! Mangala, Suruthi is suthifying with your figure di!
Mangala: Watha Ommale that thevidiya! I will peratify her in sakadai and hit her!

Originally developed as "Ovomaltine" ("Ovo" for Eggs and Malt, it's main ingredients) around 1904, Ovaltine has had a long and hoary existence around the world.

"Oval", as it was called by hip in-the-know desi moms in the 70s and 80s, was for some strange reason, part of the drinks menu troika offered to guests along with Coffee and Tea..

It was replaced by the suspiciously identical sounding and tasting Maltova sometime in the 80s (a nice trademark/copyright circumvent, one presumes) ..

Usage

Tambrahm Mami, circa 1980: Vango vango, enna sapidrel, kapi? tea? oval? (Welcome, welcome, what will you have coffee? tea? oval?)

Definition

Ootle, crassly shortened from Veetiku ulley (in the house) is part of a larger phrase ending in "Ootle solltu vandhiyaa ?". This Madras speak translates literally to "Did you tell at home and come ?", in other words, did you let your family know that you're going to die ?

Most commonly used in traffic by or to autodrivers when there's no time to use the full expression.

Usage

You're cycling along at a slow pace at Gemini Circle, or on your Kiney, and an auto driver cuts you off. As you raise your upward palm (fingers tightly together) at him as a WTF, he leans his body nearly fully out of the auto to return the gesture to you, with a quick head motion to the side and and a disparaging, "Ootle ?"
If you are male, this is probably preceded by "Otha!"
