The show shot to the top of the viewer ratings almost instantly, mostly because of it's charismatic host, Sanjeev Kapoor. He was an instant hit with Indian housewives, with his winning smile, his soothing voice and his uncanny knack for working with popular recipes. Sunday afternoons saw housewives scrambling for the tv remote, no matter if their little ones were watching cartoons or the hubby was enjoying a cricket match.
Such was the show's appeal that the normally self-sacrificing Indian housewife and mummy could be seen breathing fire from her nostrils, if anyone so much as squeeked while the ingredients list was being recited.
Khana khazana is still popular today, although the advent of lifestyle channels on cable in recent years have eclipsed it's former glory and mass appeal.
Usage
Mrs. Singh : "Oh ho! You missed it? Very nice show it was. He made dhoklas and khakhra. But what happened?"
Mrs. Khurana : "Mr. Khurana tripped on the cable wire and ripped it in half JUST before the show started. Wait till his next cricket match comes, I'll fix him then." *Looks positively murderous*
