Definition

Now-standard phrase printed in very small font at the very bottom of even very lavish wedding/reception invitations. Intended primarily to dissuade people from bringing useless regifted boxed gifts or enormous bouquets that will wilt in 2-3 days; has varying degrees of success, from moderate to minimal, often with the result that everyone simply brings a cover instead. This is quite all right, for the aforementioned phrase may well have been printed on the cards for decorum's sake only ("How can we actually *ask* for gifts? Na baba na, no-one does that these days!") and against the wishes of at least one greedy immediate-family member who is hosting the reception and who will secretly count the takings the next morning.

Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Mehta

Black Money is an unfortunate but important component of India's economy. It is a commonly used term for unaccounted money that passes between parties unofficially.

Many large financial transactions in India have two components - the official amount *white" and unofficial amount "black".

Black money is technically illegal but very much part of the corruption culture prevalent across India, South Asia. For example a land sale will have Rs. 10 Lakhs (Rs 1 million) paid in white and Rs. 40 lakhs (Rs. 4 million) paid in black. The black component is off the books and no tax is paid. The parallel "black economy" of India runs into hundreds of billions of rupees. It is also a key part of election financing.

Usage

Sukh Ramji who is selling land to Devram tells him:
"Total price 3 Crore (300 Lakhs/30 million). Pay 50 lakhs in white. Balance settle separately"

Definition

A variety of chingum - a sweetened, chewy confectionary. Most commonly used to create bubbles and exasperate all varieties of authority figures.

Often perceived to be an aphrodisiac by porkis and lafangas. But this is far from the truth.

Usage

A bubble may be created as follows -

1. Pop the baulgum into your mouth.
2. Chew. Do not swallow.
3. Make sure it attains a considerable degree of softness.
4. Now, roll it over the entire length and breadth of your tongue. Make sure you leave a small opening at the root of your tongue.
5. Blow air into this opening.

With sufficient practice, the thin layer of baulgum over the tongue will escape your mouth and form a fairly voluminous bubble.

(To defuse the bubble, suck air back and close. A sharp pop sound may be heard. This pop sound can be of varying intensities and people around you may feel fingered.)

Ching baulgum can be addictive.
