When we Indians learn quantum mechanics or condom physsics in high school, we begin to appreciate the wave–particle duality of nature which postulates that all particles exhibit both wave and particle properties. Around this time we develop the quantum headbob which (like the underlying nature of matter) exhibits a yes/no duality that can simultaneously mean "yes I understand you and I am in agreement with you" and "I have no fucken idea what you are talking about/hell no i am not going to do what you say."

The headbob can be a slow, masticating one or a rapid left-right movement. The "period" of the bob is inversely related to size of the thale.

The uninitiated might think that the "yes" and the "no" are opposing and contradictory forces but in actually, they are complementary as everything in India involves the harmonious play of opposites. Embrace the thesis and the antithesis. The synthesis will surprise you.

Usage

Billy Bob: I have no idea if Arjun is agreeing with me or disagreeing with me?
Jim: Oh thats the classic Indian headbob!

Everything in this world is Indian only!
After all we are like the oldest and wisest civilization only.
When the Europeans were swinging from trees to trees we were creating art, discovering medicine and creating the zero only.
Our culture is so much superior than the western civilization, after all they got all their knowledge from us only.
Their religions are just thousands of years old while ours predate all of them by centuries and anyways their Gods are reincarnations of our Gods only.

Usage

Chandraswami - See you have to understand that everything under the sun, in fact even the sun is Indian only. We have given the world all of its knowledge since our culture is way superior to the west.

Charles - So how do you explain a British trading company taking over your country and ruling over you for centuries?

Chandraswami - :/

You could be it. No seriously, you could well be it. The reason being that all news channels give out their own ones. End of the year approaches and all the major channels give out awards to this respect.
There is no clarification made on how these people are judged to be the Indians of the whole year.

Usage

Rajneesh - Dude check out NDTVibnNowtoday channel man.. they are giving out Indian of the year awards. I hope some member of the core committee of the civil society gets it...

Sanjeev - Definitely man! but one thing is for sure that no person belonging to the Congress will get it.. especially no Gandhi! LOL! Its not like those guys have done anything good for the country! And also never a South Indian or someone from the north east... These awards are mainstream after all..

Has nothing to do with Indie Rock. India Rock refers to the anachronistic subculture that surrounds worshipping and extolling washed out western rock bands in India. Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, Deep Purple, Metallica, Judas Priest are still big on engineering campuses in India.

This phenomenon prompted Indian author Karan M to write:

"What’s funnier is that these “heavy” bands were passed down from generation to generation largely by earnest, bespectacled engineering students, so that, overnight, in grade nine, a certain segment of nerdy science kids began trading cassettes and analyzing the line-breaks in Metallica’s lyrics and headbanging to their homework. Why these bands in particular, I can’t say. What I do know is that tastes in India could remain static for years because rock music wasn’t viewed as a rejection of the previous generation, as it is in America: just listening to rock music was rebellion enough. Nor did we have the window into American cool that is now available through the internet. It’s amazing to think that our subcultures developed in such a scarcity of western music"

Usage

I was devastated to discover that my idol, the Canadian rock star Bryan Adams, is widely ridiculed by critics in America. How strange that the canon of rock music I’d imbibed so eagerly in India ("India Rock") was irrelevant by the time I moved to the United States for college in 2001: my American friends had little or no interest in Deep Purple, Slayer, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, the Doors, Def Leppard or Iron Maiden, bands whose albums I had owned out of cultural obligation.

Barfi, jalebi, mysore-pak, laddu, gulab-jamun, rosgolla etc etc : in short, anything that's not cake or wrapped candy.
It was sacrilege to bring Indian sweets to school (St. Francis Xavier's, Bangalore) on your birthday. Never mind that you stood for an hour in line at Bhagatram's on Commercial Street and got them hot-hot. Your classmates turn away disdainfully while the class-teacher would inspect the box carefully and declare, "Indian sweets, chile?" and call you later to the staff-room, grab a handful and pack it into her lunch box.

Usage

Cheryl: See the fun, chile. That Laxmi in my class, no manners, she brought off Indian sweets for her birthday.

Indian toilet is an amputated upper torso of western toilet. Indian toilet has a gradual slope unlike the western toilet. This is done to facilitate, umm, easy landing. An innovative design indeed.
It would be debatable to conclude that Indian toilets are eco-friendly only because Indians do not use toilet paper. The same purpose is served by precious water -- and a lot of it.

A typical Indian toilet will look like this:
A faded bowl which was milky white when it was installed, but is considerably less white given a long history of usage. A container (typically an Asian Paints Dabba used for last Diwali) under a leaking tap. Vestigial hair, dead ants and other ill fated arthropods in the four corners. Flushing system which makes an unearthly long lasting dissonance when used.

Usage

Traditional Girl with modern Outlook: His house only has an Indian toilet? Thoo! I want nothing to do with that fellow.
