According to the Qur'an, fasting is obligatory for all Muslims. It is intended to teach Muslims patience, spirituality, humility and submissiveness to God.
During the month of Ramadan, Muslims all around the world will abstain from food and drink & fast from dawn to sunset. At sunset, the family will gather for the fast-breaking meal known as Iftar. The meal starts with the eating of a date, & quickly proceeds to belting down all the most lazzatdaar delicacies known to mankind! Then it's time for the Maghrib prayer, which is the fourth of the five daily prayers, after which the main meal is served, & you? Belt again of course!
To a non-Muslim, Ramadan is when YOU also mustinshould fast most of the day, otherwise how you will accomodate all the Iftar invitations that come pouring in!
Ramadan Kareem, boys & girls! May it bring generosity in thought & deed.
