Definition

Refers to the Handshake - a short greeting ritual in which two people briefly grasp each other's right hands. (The grasp could be firm or limp depending on one's personality.) In most cases, it is also accompanied by a brief up and down movement of the grasped hands - an action that is not as obscene as it sounds. Also frequently used to thank someone.

Usage

Mother to child: Uncle-aunty ge shakehand kodu! Literally, give shakehand to 'uncle-aunty'!
Man to dog: Shakehand, Tommy. Shakehand! Good boy!
Man to friend: Shakehand kodi, saar! Thumba olle newsu - magan maduve anthe! Let's shake hands, sir! This is great news - I hear your son is getting married!
Man to boss: (While shaking hands) Thank you, saar, thank you.
