The region "Karnataka Maybe Other States Too " has 1 entries

Popular circumlocution, at least in Karnataka if not in other states of India for "end'.
Generally the expression is used to indicate the end of an interesting event having already occurred at the time, to the disappointment of the person being addressed who is late for the event or an interesting part of it.

I: "Yeno Seena, boys yaroo bandey illvaa, cards aadakkey?"
( What Seena, Haven't any of the boys turned up to play cards?)
Seena: "Thu nan magney, aagley jana gana mana aaythu. Neen eeg baththaaa ideeyaa. Yella eeg thaaney yeddu hodru kanla."
(So sad sonny, Already Jana Gana Mana is over. You are coming now!(too late). Everyone just now got up and went away.)
