Phrase. April 23, 2012, Word of the Day
A phrase used in email invitations for special occasions such as a marriage. This is usually used when the person who is inviting doesnt have time or does not really want to take the trouble of coming over to invite you personally, but wants you to believe that his/her invitation is equivalent to one involving a personal visit to your residence. This type of invitation is reserved for people who do not belong to your inner circle of very close family members but have to be notified of the occasion all the same.
Father of the bride : I solicit your presence on the occasion of my daughter's marriage on April 1 2012 at Sri Kalyanam hall. Please treat this as a personal invitation and grace the occasion with your presence. Directions are attached.
