Definition

To speak softly.

In the vernacular, there is no distinction between "slow" and "soft" (For example, the word "Dheeray se", in Hindi means both slow and soft). The meaning is therefore lost in translation and thus we find that "talk slowly" is a distinctly Indian expression.

Usage

Firang (in loud voice): Can I get the KAMASUTRA?
Librarian: Please, sir, this is a library, talk slowly.
Firang: I...WOULD...LIKE...TO...BORROW...THE...KAMA...SUTRA...PLEASE...
Librarian: Sir, this is a family place, childrens are being here, you please talk slowly. Mind it please, sir!
FIRANG: LADY...I.. CAN..NOT...TALK..ANY..SLOWER.....THAN...T H I S...I need the goddamn book for that lady who keeps asking for tips...
