Used typically to refer to a class level in the Indian schooling system e.g. "10th Standard" (written "Standard X") is roughly equivalent to "10th Grade" in the American System and "Year 11" in the U.K. system. In Pakistan, the word "Grade" is often used.
Similar equivalents are found for 3rd Standard, etc.
