Definition

A wooden foot rule used as a fuel gauge in autos by drivers.
The auto driver intermittently checks the level of petrol by dipping a scale into the tank and makes sure that it has just enough-not too much, not too less- of the fuel.
Because usually the autos haven't had any fuel gauge, and also he has to return the vehicle at the end of his shift with just a little of fuel, roughly as much as was in it in the beginning of the shift.

He will lose money if he returns the auto with more petrol, and the owner will not like it if he gives it back nearly dry.

Usage

Auto drivers specifically mark their wooden scale for different levels to quantify the fuel in the tank, translating it into liter terms.
