The definitive guide to South Asian lingo

Definition 1 of 2

Definition

Be patient you will be rewarded. Said by well meaning elders when others, especially teenagers, whine about not getting this or that despite trying. These words actually infuriate rather than calm.

Usage

Ramu (to no one in particular): "Life sucks, man. I did not get selected for the Reality Show despite three months' practice."

Dadaji: "Try with the other channel, beta. Koshish karte raho, sabar ka phal meetha hota hai."

Ramu (aside to younger sister): "I don't need advice but help. I'm going out to the corner shop."

Younger sister (whispering): Careful, dad's about to return home. He may see you smoking."
