Definition

Found on the menu-carads of restaurants, the list of rice items includes pulaos, biriyanis, bhaaths and curd-rice. It is mandatory to order a rice item. Otherwise you fall several notches in a waiter's esteem. He looks up sharply from his note-pad and asks, "No raisaitum?" and clicks his teeth pityingly.

Usage

While perusing the menu-carad, which contains such gems as "Fruit Bowel" and "Tatti-frutti" and after you've selected the roti and the gravy, the hovering waiter suggests, "Any rice-items, saar? Veg palao, jeera rice, carad rice?"
