Definition

One word yummmm....
Mostly sweet, sometimes savory, goodies given to eat at a temple, gurudwara, or a satsang. It is considered holy and a medium of receiving God's blessing. That and the fact that it is delicious makes it very popular.
It's almost blasphemous to refuse to take and eat prasad. One must eat even if only a pinch or a sip. Unless of course it's milk and you are lactose intolerant, or something like that.

Also called prasadam.

Usage

Priya: "Oye Jassi, are you going to gurudwara on Sunday?"
Jassi: "Yes, around 10 in the morning. You coming?"
Priya: "Ya. I have been craving prasad for a while"
Jassi: "Good. Since it's Diwali there will the usual halwa and other sweets too"
Priya: "Yesssss!"
