Long, often cuboid shaped box with bright markings/pictures on the outside as well as inside, used for holing school children's stationery, ie, pen, pencil, pen-pencil, rubber, scale etc. Not to be confused with geometry box.

Must have for any school kid worth his or her salt in class. Competitions on who has the 'best pencil-box' are an almost daily affair at lunchtime in schools all over the country, especially among the younger lot. Having the brightest, gaudiest, shiniest one guarantees looks of respectful awe for at least three days from classmates.

Look at her new pencil-box! It's got Tom and Jerry painted on the outside, and one Ferrari inside. AND it can hold one zillion pencils!
