The definitive guide to South Asian lingo

Definition 1 of 1

Common classified ad in Indian newspapers exhorting estranged children to eschew decades of bad blood (typically lau marriage induced) and return to the old homestead to press the feet of their ailing mothers/watch them draw their last breaths in peace/fight over the division of property. Disingenuously used in the complete absence of familial ill health to slyly heal rifts, beg for a grandson when other siblings have failed to produce a male heir or otherwise reel a prodigal child in if one suspects him/her of having altogether too much fun outside the constraints of home and hearth.

Abbr: Mother Serious. Often used in jest to indicate the ties that bind and/or the henpecked nature of one's existence.
