Smart-cookie, fixer, manipulator. I think that this is a Tamil derivative of the Hindi “Khiladi”, which means “sporstman”, that has assumed a transformed metaphorical meaning in conversational Tamil.

Usage

“Are you talking of Sumanth? He is a big killadi. There’s nothing he can’t arrange to his advantage, by hook or crook, and mostly by crook, to be frank.”

How Tamilians pronounce Khillaadi, the Hindi word for player. The combination of a consonant with an "h" sound, converts Sanskrit based words like Bhagawan into Bagawan, Khilladi into Killadi.

Usage

Ambi: You are quite a Killadi, aren't you?
Mangesh: You mean Khilladi, don't you? Yes, I am quite a player.
Ganesh: He used to play gully cricket wiht Sachin.

Actually In local Tamil in Chennai, it means, the guy is a 'smart-alec', sharp guy etc, one who is street smart and little cunning to boot. More like naughtily smart!

Usage

"Adaa, KillaaDi paa nee" as an exclamation parising such guys!
