Kadlai

Origin: In Chennai, at either Marina or Bessie beach, couples who space themselves like repelling magnets, whispering sweet-nothings in each others ears, wistfully gazing at the lapping waves as they hug the shore are usually rudely interrupted by 'kadlai-sellers' (boiled peanut vendors) with "Kadlai, saar?"

PS: 'The Marina' sounds posh as I write but I guess this is due to space and time away from reality.
