Definition

General term that can be used to describe all kinds of hard and soft toffees in India.

"Goli" in Hindi means bullet or pellet. But why is it associated with candy you ask? I shall tell you. Bullets in pre-Independance India were often spherical in shape, and not unlike in appearance to hard boiled toffees of the day. Some smart kid must have started the trend of putting "goli" in front of "toffee", and it stuck.

Usage

"You are going to market? Will you get me some goli-toffee? If Ravalgon is there, get me full packet. Mixed flavours, ok!"
