The definitive guide to South Asian lingo

Definition 1 of 1

Excessively used phrase in print media when reporting robberies.

The literal translation is simple: "escaped with the stolen items"

"...when he offered resistance, one of the juveniles allegedly stabbed him after which they decamped with the loot."

"... they cut the grills of the window and entered inside the firm and decamped with the loot"

"... two youths sneaked into her house, tied her and decamped with the loot..."

All three instances are from actual news reports, which appeared in national as well as regional newspapers in 2011.
