The definitive guide to South Asian lingo

Definition 1 of 1

Definition

When I was a boy of leven, I overheard two uncles refer in hushed tones to another uncle's second "account" in a small town not too far from the city. I never understood why having a second account was a taboo. I presumed this was like a Swiss account. And then one day, many years later, the meaning flashed in crystal clarity.

(see chinna veedu)

Usage

Uncle1: Our friend has a second account in Namakkal, you know... That's why he keeps going on "projects".
Uncle2: Oh, interest-yielding deposit aa?
Uncle1: He is interested in depositing. The account yields.
