A phrase in Hindi meaning “the common man.” So prevalent in television networks to day that it is worming its way into news reports in English language newspapers and magazines. I wonder when the gender bias inherent in this phrase is going to be removed: “aadmi” is certainly not “aurat.” Of course there is the “aam janta,” about which, elsewhere…
Usage
Our netas are not concerned about what the aam aadmi feels.
